Energy Cost Analysis is important in determining the effectiveness of your facility in using energy efficiently and stopping energy waste. As such, we’ve gathered some tools together to help measure energy cost. Firstly, the DOE2.com Energy Cost Analysis Tool..
DOE-2 Building Energy Use and Cost Analysis Tool
The Industry Standard…
DOE-2 is a widely used and accepted freeware building energy analysis program that can predict the energy use and cost for all types of buildings. DOE-2 uses a description of the building layout, constructions, usage, conditioning systems (lighting, HVAC, etc.) and utility rates provided by the user, along with weather data, to perform an hourly simulation of the building and to estimate utility bills.
Proven Through Twenty-five Years of Development and Support…
For over two decades we have been developing and supporting DOE-2; this has lead to a very capable and feature rich product. Over its lifetime several versions of DOE-2 have been developed and released to the public; we currently offer you our “latest and greatest” version, DOE-2.2, as well as continue to make available a “legacy” version, DOE-2.1E. We suggest you use either DOE-2.2 or, even better, eQUEST which is our flagship DOE-2.2 based interactive building energy use analysis product.
DOE-2.2 – The newest DOE-2 building energy simulation and cost calculation engine is DOE-2.2. You can review an Overview of DOE-2.2 and learn about Converting DOE-2.1E input files to DOE-2.2. You can download DOE-2.2 and its complete documentation from the DOE-2.2 download area, but you must complete a DOE-2.2 license agreement and email, mail or fax it to us and we will then send you a password for the program zip archive; email and US mail address and fax number are on license.
D2comply – The new DOE-2.2 based California Title 24 compliance engine; (D2comply 3.55 and eQUEST 3.55 were approved by the California Energy Commission as a Title 24 non-Residential ACM’s on 4/27/2005). This is the component used by eQUEST to perform Title 24 compliance analysis; once certified third party developers can use this package to build additional certified tools. Download D2comply for compliance analysis only; for full standard DOE-2.2 use you should obtain a standard release version of DOE-2.2 as mentioned above.
DOE-2.1E – Versions of the older DOE-2.1E and its complete documentation set can be downloaded from the DOE-2.1E download area, but you must complete a DOE-2.1E license agreement and mail or fax it to us, and we will then send you a password for the program zip archive; email and US mail address and fax number are on license.
DOE-2 on CD – To obtain a DOE-2 CD, with program versions, documentation and weather data, mail the appropriate license(s) to us with a payment of $55US (add $5US for Canada, $10US outside North America.) US mail address to send your license(s) and payment is found on the DOE-2 license agreement.
The latest Breakthrough in DOE-2 Building Energy Use Modeling is here…
eQUEST = enhanced DOE-2.2 + Wizards + Graphics
eQUEST is a sophisticated, yet easy to use, freeware building energy use analysis tool which provides professional-level results with an affordable level of effort. eQUEST was designed to allow you to perform detailed comparative analysis of building designs and technologies by applying sophisticated building energy use simulation techniques but without requiring extensive experience in the “art” of building performance modeling. This is accomplished by combining schematic and design development building model creation wizards, an energy efficiency measure (EEM) wizard and a graphical results display module with an enhanced DOE-2-derived building energy use simulation program. You can review the eQUEST Overview to get a more complete summary of the features and capabilities of this excellent program.
You can review more information about eQUEST including download of program and documentation, or directly download the eQUEST Tutorial. You can also view the eQUEST download area to see recent versions of the program, documentation and updates. eQUEST 3.55 was approved by the California Energy Commission as a Title 24 non-Residential ACM on 4/27/2005.
